Our Best Advice:

Rule #1 for Traveling: You must have a date on the calendar for your next trip!

Once we have a date and place to get excited about, Jane begins all the planning for the trip. If the trip includes places we have visited before we decide to either stay at our past lodgings or reach out to new locations. This can take some time based on availability and confirming the accommodations. Next, where are we going to eat? The restaurants where we dine (Hint: In Europe, use thefork.com), to any food tours that look great in any of the cities we visit, to the excursions from the ship. She does a great job and this 6-8 months process of planning and scheduling provides her with great joy and sometimes a bit of frustration.

Rule #2: Plan, and Plan, and Plan and give yourself time to do it right!

I mostly agree with all her plans. My attention is on getting ready for photography and what new places I want to explore, whether early AM or late PM, and whether there is a higher elevation option. I am also responsible for scheduling the rental car, pick up and drop off.

For us, being travel writers, it becomes a business adventure since we are writing and taking photos for our blog.
